Who we are - About Cretan-Homes Estate Agents PDF Print E-mail

We are a husband and wife team and have been helping people buy homes in our corner of Crete for over five years.

We are members of the HELLENIC REAL ESTATE ASSOCIATION which is the only Certified European Institution for property in Greece. As such, we share a common membership code of practice and have partners throughout Crete and Greece. We are members of FIABCI, THE CEI , ICREA AND NAR.

We are certified with the local chamber of commerce, the Lassithi register of Estate agents and are founder members of  AIPP.and the Crete Property Association Through these memberships we have been able to not only say we behave ethically and within a code of conduct, but in fact we are tested and examined to make sure we are up to date with all local regulations. We are the agents responsible for the South Eastern Corner of Crete and our area extends from Ierapetra, through to Sitia and down to Kato Zakros.

Yiannis Karavitis is from Pefki, Makri Yialos and together with his family they are well known and respected throughout the area. He has run several successful businesses in the region and his father was the local priest in Pefki for many years. Today they are valued members of the community and have the trust and respect of the local people.

Abbe Waddington-Karavitis is from England, has a business and law degree and worked for more than ten years in the UK. She has now been living and working in Greece for over thirteen years and is married with two children. Abbe has helped buy property in the UK, Italy, France and Greece and so is familiar with the anxiety of buying property abroad.

We live in Makri Yialos all year round and work with the local people throughout the year. We are constantly updating our files and have a good selection of property and land available.

When buying, building or considering a property abroad there are many questions about the Greek legal system and the rights to buy property abroad that need to be answered. Therefore, having both Greek and English speakers at hand gives you reassurance and control of your property purchase.

WARNING

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING

PROPERTY AND HOME GREECE MAGAZINE FOR . Issue 16

'Severe criminal sanctions are threatened against the unlicensed agent and contracts possibly concluded with unlicensed real estate agents shall be treated as NULL AND VOID. (stated by Ziouvas and partners, attorneys at law.)'

Please make sure that the Estate Agency you deal with in Crete is registered. As more and more people try to sell houses, without the proper licenses, such is the need for registered Estate Agents to distance themselves from the few unauthorised dealers.

Make sure you deal with professionals who understand the country's company law and be aware of agents that do not have Greek staff. This can mean hidden charges and intermediary costs.
